Do you want to know more about something? Are you not sure where to look? Would you like to have someone else’s input in tackling your information need?
Whether you are seeking the answer to a question, looking for better sources from which to obtain your information, or doing in-depth research, the Library can help you with your information needs. Both expert staff guidance and library databases are available to help you.
Databases are repositories of digital files that the Library provides access to by paid subscription. The databases include access to reference materials, newspaper articles and magazine articles that are often not accessible free-of-charge using an internet search engine.
A resident library card number must be entered to gain access to databases using a home computer or other device. All of the databases that are subscribed to are available within the Library, and most are also accessible from your home or office.

Reserves & Interlibrary Loan: Reserves for materials may be placed by resident patrons for items that are either not owned by the library or that just happen to be checked out to another patron. A reserve for an item is sometimes fulfilled when the copy owned by North Merrick is returned, but other times another Nassau County library will send its copy to fulfill the reserve. A reserve may be placed in person at the library, with the assistance of a librarian, or on the library’s website using the My Account link. https://www.nmerricklibrary.org/account/
In instances where the desired materials are not owned by any Nassau County library, the materials might be available to borrow through interlibrary loan. A request to borrow materials using interlibrary loan must be made with the assistance of a librarian. Materials obtained through interlibrary loan are mailed to the library for pickup, often from other states. This service is free.
